- Files In This Archive:
- flash.prc - the Pilot executable file
- readme_f.txt - this text file
- help - a directory with HTML help files for Flash! Contains:
- -several .gif files - help graphics
- -help.html - A user help file for Flash!
- -api.html - A file for programmers, describing how to
- integrate your program with Flash!
- samples - a directory of sample decks
- nw_birds.pdb - a sample deck with the common/latin names of
- birds of the pacific northwest rainforest
- morse.pdb - a morse code tutor deck. This is set up so
- that learning mode quizzes will start you with the
- most common letters and gradually roll in all the
- letters.
-
- Installation:
-
- Installation of Flash! is just like any other .prc for the
- pilot: open the install tool, choose your user name and the
- .prc, and press "install". Use this same procedure for
- updates; do NOT first delete the old copy of Flash! on the device.
-
- The exception to this is when you are installing version 2.0.x over
- a pre-2.0.x version (such as 2.0bx or 1.x.x). Then, you will need
- to do a complete reinstall by the following procedure.
-
- 1. Backup your decks (make sure that "backup on hotsync" is checked in the deck
- details dialog of each deck, then hotsync).
-
- 2. Delete Flash! from the launcher (choose delete from the app menu)
-
- 3. Install the new version of Flash!, as well as all your decks from the
- pilot/<yourname>/backup directory, using the palm install tool. Hotsync again to
- complete the installation.
-
- 4. You will need to re-enter your registration code.
-
- However, if you are installing version 2.x over version 2.0.x or later, you should
- *not* delete anything. Simply install the new version; even your registration should
- remain in place.
-
- Distribution:
- This version of Flash! for demonstration purposes only. You may
- use and distribute this archive as long as all of the
- files remain intact and unchanged.
-
- Registration:
- The registration fee for Flash! is $12.95 (U.S. funds). Half of this
- money goes to charity (after PilotGear takes their 20% cut).
- Registration gets you a code to stop the program from bugging you.
-
- ON THE WEB:
- PilotGearHQ! - PilotGear now accepts direct credit card
- orders for Flash. See:
- Kagi.Com - More money for me, but more bother. Accepts credit
- card orders and many other payment methods.
-
- VIA US MAIL:
- You can also register by sending check or money order for $10.00
- (U.S. Funds only) to:
-
- Homunculus Software
- c\o Jaime Quinn
- 10 Bear Paw
- Portola Valley, CA 94028
-
- If registering by mail please include an email address where
- you would like the registration code sent, or include an
- extra $2 to cover the cost of diskette and postage.
- Also PLEASE include a reference to Flash! in with your check
- so that I know which program to send you.
-
- Alternate registration methods:
- (NB: The fact that I give away money and
- give you options does not mean I don't care about money. Flash! is a
- labor of love, and I want to give people breaks for their labors of
- love; I don't just want postcards. Evaluate, then register or delete.)
-
- ---- Have a meal at the restaurant "El Delfin", in the beautiful small
- town of Buena Vista, Guerrero, Mexico (south of Cuernavaca). This
- is where the programming started. Say hello to Margarita or Yolanda,
- and then send me an email about it or write to me at the address below.
-
- ---- Waive a shareware fee for me on a program you've created for the pilot.
- (Remember: it isn't a shareware fee until someone's paid it)
-
- ---- Send me a zine which you created. Preferably two issues, if there are
- two. No e-zines, sorry.
-
- ---- Download the source code from homunculus.dragonfire.net/flashsource.zip,
- and write a bugfix or improvement. If you feel that the amount of work
- involved should get you more than just a registration, email me beforehand and
- we'll talk.
